Update May 18, 2020
Dear SWVHJA members,
The effect of the COVID 19 pandemic has affected us unprecedented ways, and as of now, the number of persons with COVID 19 is still increasing in our Commonwealth. The
SWVHJA Board has been closely monitoring conditions in our Commonwealth, and has followed recommendations from state authorities. In compliance with the Governor's
Executive Order 61 as of May 12, 2020, the SWVHJA Board has elected to not recognize SWVHJA shows until July 1, 2020. This order prohibits all public and private in-person
gatherings of more than 10 individuals. The governor's orders outline Stage 1 effective May 15, 2020, and is expected to last 2-4 weeks. After that time, the
Governor plans that Stage 2 will limit all gatherings to 50 persons. These stages are subject to change depending on the unpredictable nature of the COVID 19 pandemic. As of
July 1, 2020, the Board will then reassess current state mandates and health guidelines and make further decisions on show recognition.
The Board is reviewing current recommendations from the CDC, state health officials, and USEF to offer guidelines towards safe practices towards the goal of resuming
horse shows under new protocols. The Association encourages all members to follow state mandated guidelines as outlined in these resources:
We miss our equestrian friends and competitors, and look forward to seeing you soon. We hope that everyone stays healthy and well!
